Wheat...Early-week trade on the west coast showed all three classes
of wheat holding slightly above week-ago levels, though well below the
recent highs following the lower futures complex. White wheat bids saw
a modest carry in the bid structure, with March bids posted at $6 and
at a nickel carry to February. August new crops bids today showed white
wheat posted at $6.13, dark northern spring 14% protein at $6.62, and
hard red winter 11.5% protein bid at $6.13.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed wheat movement off U.S.
ports came in slightly below the prior week at 11.9 million bushels to
put the year-to-date total at 613 million bushels and 18.5% ahead of a
year ago. Hard red spring registered 4.4 million bushels, loadings for
hard red winter were at 3.1 million and soft white at 2.2 million. West
coast exporters shipped 6.5 million bushels of wheat, going primarily
to Malaysia and Taiwan, along with 15.2 million bushels of corn and a
total of 7.4 million bushels of soybeans for China.
