   DTN Weekly DDG Price Sharply Higher on Average

   DTN's weekly average spot price for domestic distillers dried grains is 
higher versus one week ago.

   MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The average DTN spot price for domestic distillers 
dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Aug. 27 was 
$174 per short ton on average, up $11 versus one week ago. DDG prices surged as 
corn and soybean prices also jumped versus last week. One merchandiser told DTN 
some states are reporting supplies are tight amid a pick-up in demand.

   DDG prices were sharply higher on average and the cash corn price was higher 
versus one week ago. The DTN National Average Corn Index was up 33 cents per 
bushel (basis SEP), while soybean meal prices were also higher, up $17.10 per 
short ton (basis DEC) versus one week ago.

   Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative 
to corn for the week ended Aug. 27 was 0.913%. The value of DDG relative to 
soybean meal was 51.04% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $6.44 
compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $7.18.

   U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council in its weekly distillers dried grains 
with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed these September prices 
as of Aug. 27: CIF NOLA barge price was up $9 at $246 metric ton (mt) versus 
one week ago; FOB vessel Gulf price was up $14 at $248 mt; rail delivered PNW 
was up $14 at $286; and rail delivered to California was up 14 at $281 mt.

   Ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.112 million barrels per 
day (bpd) in the week ended Aug. 21, the Energy Information Administration 
reported Wednesday. That's up 23,000 bpd week-on-week and 42,000 bpd, or 3.9%, 
higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.106 
million bpd was 27,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol 
production averaged 1.062 million bpd, up 31,000 bpd week-on-week and 45,000 
bpd, or 4.4%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output 
at 1.05 million bpd was 28,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
