DTN Weekly DDG Price Steady on Average
DTN's weekly average spot price for domestic distillers dried grains is
unchanged versus one week ago.

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The average DTN spot price for domestic distillers
dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended July 16 was
$153 per ton on average, steady on average versus one week ago. Prices were
mixed overall while some plants slowed production as extreme heat continued
across the Midwest.
DDG prices held steady on average for the week while the cash corn price was
higher versus one week ago. The DTN National Average Corn Index was up 10 cents
per bushel (basis SEP), while soybean meal prices were up $11.20 (basis DEC)
versus one week ago.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative
to corn for the week ended July 16 was 0.923%. The value of DDG relative to
soybean meal was 47.46% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $5.67
compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.79. (basis DEC)
U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council in its weekly distillers dried grains
with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed these August prices as
of July 16: CIF NOLA barge price was up $2 at $219 metric ton (mt) versus on
week ago; FOB vessel Gulf price was up $4 at $239 mt; rail delivered PNW was
down $9 at $246; and rail delivered to California was down $5 at $248 mt.
The Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday that overall
ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.04 million barrels per day
(bpd) in the week ended July 10, down 53,000 bpd week-on-week and 47,000 bpd,
or 4.3%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at
1.085 million bpd was 3,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest
ethanol production averaged 976,000 bpd, down 56,000 bpd week-on-week and
52,000 bpd, or 5.1%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average
output at 1.024 million bpd in line with year-ago levels.
